Sinful Color Nail Polish Swatch – Sinful Colors Boom Boom Swatch

Oh my goodness! I didn’t understand the hype of jellies until I used Sinful Colors’ Boom Boom when doing my Le Tigre inspired manicure. Boom Boom an absolutely gorgeous raspberry pink jelly. Sinful Colors is a line of 3 free nail polishes carried at Walgreen’s, Rite Aid, and other stores (but not CVS.) The polishes usually retail for $1.99, though they go on sale every once in a while for 99 cents.

This is one of my favorite pinks in my collection. It went on smoothly, required only two coats, and had that lovely squishy depth characteristic of jellies.

Boom Boom works so well with Sticks ‘n Stones. Do you have any recommendations for pairing this jelly? I’m excited to try a PB&J manicure, but I’m not sure which glitter to use. What other jellies do you think are must-haves?”

Sinful Colors Nail Polish Swatch – Sinful Colors Glass Pink Swatch

I loaded up on some polishes during Walgreen’s 99 cent sale on Sinful Colors polishes a couple weeks ago, and I’m just now getting around to swatching them. One of my favorites is Glass Pinka very sheer pale pink with lots of pink/green microshimmer

The color is similar to Confetti’s Dreamdate, but the multi-colored microshimmer sets Glass Pink apart. It was just difficult to capture the beauty of the shimmer.

I used two coats in the above photos, and as you can see, it’s nowhere near opaque. However, layered over Wet ‘n Wild’s Sugar Coat (pics later), this is a perfect “safe for work” combo. Delicate, shimmery, and oh so pretty.

What are some of your favorite “safe for work” looks? Do you have any favorite combos for Glass Pink?

NOTD – My Le Tigre Inspired Manicure & Cover Band Sticks ‘n Stones Swatch

I’ve been itching to do a Le Tigre inspired manicure, and the Le Tigre/Gossip album artwork kept popping into my head.

I also received Cover Band’s Sticks ‘n Stones in the mail, which lends itself perfectly to my inspiration. I decided to use Sinful Colors’ Boom Boom, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics’ Traffic, and the aforementioned Sticks ‘n Stones. I also used Essie’s Good to Go as a fast dry top coat (not pictured.)

I am so very pleased with how this manicure turned out, and I cannot stop staring at my nails! I was also able to incorporate femme flagging by using the grad student flag again. Sticks ‘n Stones is amazing, and I’m contemplating ordering a second bottle. I have so many ideas to layer it over Essie’s Turquoise & Caicos, Confetti’s Lonesome Dove, Confetti’s Belle of the Ball

I haven’t yet swatched and reviewed Boom Boom, but I love this polish. It’s a bright fuschia jelly, and it achieved the perfect coverage in two coats. It didn’t bubble at all, and with the Essie topcoat, it dried quickly. Sticks ‘n Stones is really amazing, and I look forward to practicing the placement of the glitters. Do you have Sticks ‘n Stones? If so, what are your favorite polishes to layer it over? Do you have any polishes similar to Sticks ‘n Stones that you think I should check out?

Confetti Nail Polish Swatches – Confetti Dreamdate Swatch

Confetti is a 3 free nail polish that retails for $1.99 and sold exclusively by CVS. According to the Confetti website, the line includes 48 colors. I recently picked up Dreamdate, a very sheer baby pink with tons of shimmer.

As you can see from the photos below, Dreamdate is extremely sheer. I used 4 coats and it was nowhere near opaque. But I think this is a wonderful color if you’re wishing to achieve a subtle shimmer or want a “safe for work” polish. Also, please forgive the fleck of red glitter on my middle finger. I didn’t catch it until I saw these photos.

The more I look at these photos, the more excited I become to use this polish in layering! What are some of your favorite layering polishes or combinations?
